About 4nature

4nature seeks to ensure that the natural environments of Australia and the South Pacific survive and thrive.

4nature’s main focus is to protect a 20,000 hectare conservation area on Kolombangara Island in Solomon Islands as part of a partnership with a landholders’ conservation association.

We have supported community efforts to protect the Greater Blue Mountains. Between 2015 and 2017 we successfully took to court Centennial Coal, owners of the Springvale underground coal mine near Lithgow, to prevent the pollution of Sydney’s drinking water by contaminated mine wastewater.

This year we supported legal efforts by Nature Defenders to prevent the leasing of the Gardens of Stone conservation area for an adventure theme park and luxury accommodation.

In 2017, 4nature received the Marie Byles Award from the Nature Conservation Council of NSW for ‘the most inspiring community action initiative’ in recognition of its prolonged court case against Centennial Coal.

4nature is an incorporated association registered as a charity by the Australian Charities and Not-for-profit Commission. ABN: 21 825 891 704.
