Blue Mountains Weed Action
Blue Mountains Weed Action was formed in early 2025 to achieve the best strategic actions for weed management in the Blue Mountains.
It originated from informal discussions amongst three people with a long history in weed management: Keith Brister, Andrew Cox and Ian Baird.
We wanted to direct the frustrations evident within our community about weed management towards action-oriented solutions.
Today, Blue Mountains Weed Action members include Andrew Cox, Keith Brister, Liam Rammage and Lyndal Sullivan.
We met many times and asked many questions. We sought to understand how weeds were being managed in the Blue Mountains Local Government Area and what was making some aspects work well and what was preventing other aspects from working better.
In August 2025, Blue Mountains Weed Action hosted a Weed Action Workshop at Lawson, drawing together the ideas of about 20 local experts. You can read the workshop communique and workshop report.
In November 2025 we provide input to Blue Mountains City Council’s draft Weed Management Strategy 2030. We prepared a detailed submission and met with senior Council staff to present our ideas.
